Device for Production of Glass Fibers
Laboratory puller LFD 10 is designed to produce test glass fibers, which are used in further devices e.g. for measuring the viscosity properties of glass. It is capable of producing glass fibers with circular cross-section and diameter from 0,5 to 1,5 mm.
The device is composed of three main parts:
- MF Generator for induction furnace
- Induction furnace with crucible with volume of 200 cm3
- Pulling device with accessories
Usually, a crucible from PtRh10 alloy is used. In case of lower requirements, it is possible to use a crucible made from steady heat steel.

Furnace
Induction furnace for glass fiber pulling device. Generator SF1 is placed inside this box. Platinum crucible was ejected from the furnace.
Puller device frame
Is constructed in a way to be mounted on a wall. Induction furnace is at bottom. Puller device itself is placed on vertically alignable holder.
Power source
This module contains power source for generator with temperature and rotational speed controllers.
Puller module
Using puller module, the glass fiber is pulled out of the surface of melted glass in platinum crucible. To desired diameter of the pulled fiber can be obtained, temperature inside the furnace, pulling speed and distance must be set.
